You-all may recall wondering why on earth we would allow such shenanigans to occur on our front forty.
A simple reason, really.
We knew we were about to have our neighbor come do this:
It has been a long-held dream of the GilGuy to level the yard. It's gnarly surface has caused him much chagrin over the years, as he engaged the upkeep thereof. So the day was a celebration of sorts ~ although I'm not so certain the cheap child labor was so gleeful about it:
The birds have had a field day, snagging free-for-all grubs and worms that were unceremoniously uprooted from their snugly warm underground beds. For them, the roar of the engine, the rumble of the disc-blade was nothing short of an apocalyptic earthquake!
Today the rains have poured life-giving moisture to the rich, fertile soil, and soon, new blades of green grass will appear, granting security to the soil; refuge for the insects; color to our abode; and less labor for my hard-workin' man as he puts his hand to the mower in the summer skies to come.
It's a tangible reminder that our spiritual lives are in need of upkeep as well.
. . . break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12
Today, I pray for you, Choosers. I pray that the spiritual soil of your life will be that of an honest and good heart, that receives the Word unto the bearing of the fruit of Christ.
The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

My backyard is so not level. Bumps and potholes and all sorts of uneven surfaces. [sigh] Someday, perhaps.
For now, it's the unending battle with the dandelions... which are quickly winning.
~Luke
Luke, turn the tide. Dandelions are edible. Enjoy a victory salad.
