In the most recent weeks, since I met Tonka, much has occurred.
First, we opted to pass on Tonka, with his best interest in mind, as he would likely live alone for some time. Horses, being social animals, fare best with a companion, and we certainly didn't want to be the source of loneliness and heartbreak for him. In addition, we weren't quite ready for him, as we've still fence-mending to accomplish.
Fence-mending, you ask?
Yes, we've bought the farm.
Er, make that the piece of raw land.
We'll build the 'farm' as we go.
Super excited about this adventure, as it will prove to be an ongoing project, one in which we hope to prepare a place that will be a benefit and a security for our children and grandchildren.
Not only that, but, finally, I'll manage to have those chickens I was once so bent on owning! LOL
So, join us, won't you, Choosers? On this next adventure of ours?
Oh sure, we've still got The Actor and LA. We've still got the KBoyz and the Beautiful Girls we call daughters; there is rarely a day go by that there is not something to laugh about or reflect upon . . . we're just adding to the adventure ride ~ a new twist that, prayerfully, will produce the road home in the hearts of the generations yet to come.
You know - "over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house we go" - that warm, cozy, enjoyable, happy place that fosters memories and serves as a foundation for good and honest living.
That road home.

I love you for this.
I'm from a family where "the farm" was central to our existence for so many years. God bless ya.
I want to be THAT kind of Grandma.
Oh, what an encouragement to hear! I thought some might find me nuts . . . LOL
You're not nuts, Angi! I am so jealous! Can't wait to see how the farm develops.
Whew! Thanks Jen. :D LOL
Yes, I plan on documenting the whole process . . . no matter how long it takes us! LOL
Oh how wonderful! Can't wait to hear more about it. :)
Happy to see you back here, too!
Can't wait to search through and see how this is coming along. My parents purchased land when I was in high school but weren't able to build on it until after I was away from the nest. But their "farm" was a nesting spot for all the grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren. Now both my parents are gone and none of us siblings were able to keep the property. But we were so blessed to have a family purchase it who will be rearing their daughters, puppies and horses on it. I wish my husband and I had been able to come up with the resources to do the same but so far haven't been able to. But I won't give up on what God may have in store for my retirement years. There may be a few acres out there just waiting for us to find it!:)
