Holiday Heat Wave

While the majority of the nation shivers beneath multple layers of clothing while cranking the heater just one more notch, we here in the southern states have had an entirely different dilemna.

So, Question Du Jour: What does one do when the air conditioner kicks the bucket on a muggy, hot Mississippi Christmas Eve, Choosers?

Learn from a Pro-Make-Lemonade-Out-Of-Lemons kind of family.
**See visual tutorial below:

First, after opening every cotton-pickin' window in your house, head to the shed and fish out the mechanical lights. String them up on 2x4's strapped to the porch railing with hooks. Send the children to the linen closet to wrap the remaining deck railing with white Christmas lights.

Tote the dining room table, six chairs and a coffetable-to-be-used-as-a-side-bar outside.

Find the red tablecloth. Cover.
Scramble to find the perfect centerpiece, such as the pinecone you and your daughter found during a recent walk. Add candles to the stand-alone sconces.
Rinse your poinsetta tableware that has been in storage for the past year.
Remove the vittles that have been baking in the oven, thereby adding an additional 300 degrees of heat to the already sauna-i-fied hot-house of a home, and place them out-of-doors on the just-finished-psuedo holiday decorum.
Dab the glisten from your brow, sit down, and thank the Lord for a wonderful family, and a decidedly different holiday experience.
One for the record books.
Yes, indeed.
:)
Merry Christmas, Ya'll. From the Deep South.

Love your blog, Angi. I grew up in Florida and remember walking to the neighbor's house in shorts or a new light dress on Christmas afternoon. Now, we live in the Great White North, and the temperature when we got up this morning was below zero! Glad to see that ya'll are having a Merry Christmas despite the warmth. We are celebrating indoors, but enjoying looking at the snow!

You are so THERE with the creativity! MAN it was warm & humid today. I'm sorry you were without AC. We have a window unit if you'd like to borrow it.

Your outdoor Christmas dinner sounds beautiful!

Merry CHRISTmas!
