Unearthing Discoveries Long Lost

I've lost hours of time, searching for book titles that travelled in boxes between California and our home. Every so often, I'll give a robust hunt for the reads, only to feel the slump of defeat. Even though the number of 'lost' books are few, they are, of course, key books ~ one even being a history spine!

I've been employing the library like mad. I've renewed and re-renewed and begged for more time, particularly with the spine. The library has been gracious, and amiable, for which I am very thankful.

This morning, I lost the phone.

Well, both phones. This did not bode well with me, seeing as I did not sleep well, I'd already experienced my daughter's intense homeschoolers-should-get-the-day-off-because-the-public-schoolers-get-one argument, and travelled well over an hour on an errand that was put on my plate by an undesirable source.

In my heightened state, I found myself in my daughter's closet. It is a makeshift school room, complete with a desk, her books, pens, notebooks, and a few token articles of clothing hanging nearby. I was certain the phone could be located in this hidden away enclave.

My eyes traced every item in the room in a strategic fashion. It was then that I caught sight of a notation I had written on the side of a flat rate box. It said, simply: 100.

Suddenly, the search for the phone seemed obsolete. Oh yeah! I told myself. I had forgotten that I'd mailed a few books in smaller boxes. Climbing atop the desk chair, I gingerly opened the first of four boxes seated on the high shelf.

B I N G O!!

I hit a treasure trove of about 12 books ~ not only ones we'd finished and had borrowed from the library, but also the two we were in most need of at the moment!

I was exhilarated!

Spurred on to find yet more linguistic goodies, I shoved and shifted and moved other articles to get to the remaining three boxes.

Alas. Only one held dear items.

I am, however, thrilled to pieces! I've since confiscated the box and found the phone.

I've taken prisoners, and they've no chance of escape.

I'm so glad that you found your books. Nothing worse than misplaced books, second is misplaces phones - both happen all the time around here!

Losing school books is the worst and I don't even have a move to blame.

Of course, finding them is VERY SWEET.
