Ode To The Radish

Delectable Veggie,
So round and bright ~

A delicious snack,
Morning, Noon, or Night.

***
As I snipped off the radish ends yesterday, I could not help but feel overjoyed at my grocery store find. Radishes are simply delicious!

Recently, a guest gingerly scooped up a bright red and white radish and declared that she had NEVER tasted one before . . .I was aghast! How could this be?

Radishes are a staple of every little garden across America, are they not?
Clean, fresh, slightly hot; cripsy and crunchy - one has not lived until they've eaten a radish.

So, if you fall in the camp of Never Had A Radish ~ I suggest you head down to your local grocer today and purchase some. Bright red, with or wihtout leaves attached. Bring them home, rinse them, snip them, eat them.

You'll be glad you did! :)

Dell's Least Favorite Vacation Destination . . .

You can see the consternation in his eyes ~

The intense internal struggle between desire for attention and a deep rooted knowledge that he's dealing with the Alpha male of the family (read: no false moves!).

The DellDog begrudgingly complies with the request for some intimate snuggle time . . .but at what price? one asks! :)

Signs Of The Times ~

My eyelids are heavy, and my body demanding of me to enter a horizontal zone FAST . . .

Yet I argue, and press against the tide, waiting for word from Tiffany that she is home safe.

The text message arrives, and I can now succumb to the demands of my physical being . . .but my mind races on ~

The telltale clues of imminent arrival of that Little Man are beginning to crop up everywhere.

Will tonight be the night?

Will my phone ring?

Will dawn bring the presence of a new life?

*sigh*

The waiting game intensifies;
The signs of the times line the side of life's road,
Declaring a soon to be seen intersection.

When Life Expires

no one is really ready for it.

No one has practiced for the day when it occurs.

No one has thought it through - what life would be like without you around.

It just happens.

The loved ones are left with a hole in thier heart,

And a longing to bring you back

If only they could.

Patriotic Survival Of The Fittest

I'm not sure what YOUR holiday looked like for you . . .

but as for me and my house?

Consider us Triathalonists of a new genre!

Our day began at 6 am, with preparations for the Annual SAR Fourth of July Ceremony/Celebration at Beauvior, the antebellum home of Jefferson Davis.

Each year, we do it up right in the patriotism department by acknowledging the heros of the American Revolution. My husband leads the way, as the (as we lovingly call them) Octo's follow. Each of these gentlemen has served our country in the armed forces, in a war, and have direct decendants in thier lineage to the American Revolution.
Then, we march down the wooded path, over the little bridge that takes us to a small confederate cemetary, that houses the remains of Jefferson Davis' father, Samuel Davis. Samuel Davis is the only American Revolutionary war hero buried in Harrison County, Mississippi.

Gil and the children lead in prayer, rousing reads of patriotic poetry . . .

The crowd is enraptured in the significance of the honors being given . . .

And then, we all take in the turtle nearby, laying her eggs. (a very patriotic thing to do, you know.) :)

A breakfast follows, then a hearty nap as the rain drizzzles the afternoon away.

But what's this?

The day isn't over?

Oh, no . . .

by early evening, a steady stream of folk arrive at the door . . .adults, children, dogs, fireworks.

A hearty American meal of burgers and dogs (umm . . .not the same dogs as the ones that came through the door, mind you. Hot Dogs. silly.) ensue, fireworks sparkle and sputter, whistling through the Mississippi sky, while laughter and comradarie, friendship and fun abounds.

By the time the evening concludes, the stars are brightly twinkling overhead, the host of children have sighed heavy sighs of exhausted relief, and we are more than ready to call it a day.

Happy Birthday, America.

Land of the Free.

Home of the Brave.

May God Bless.

The Next Best Thing ~

Not only was I taken off guard when this delectable morsel was presented to me, I simply came unglued when I bit into the soft, gently sweet tang that exploded on my tastebuds!
These Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies are the BOMB!
I was originally going to pick up the makings for a patriotic desert for tomorrow's get together.
I've changed my mind!
I'll be in the kitchen, baking away . . .I must. have. another!

Sometimes Ya Just Gotta Laugh.

Take for instance the infernal wondering of, "Where's Angi? And why hasn't she been blogging?"

Isn't it obvious that such creative genius such as mine has an ebb and flow, that only perpetuates upon itself fresh inspiration, once I return?

Oh.

OK.

So, I've been bloggerland AWOL.

Sheesh!

Can't a girl take a break now and again?

No?

Oh.

Well, then, consider me back.

Ya know: for the next season's episodes on ChoiceCentral! LOLOL :)
